Project: Plan to Plant – Web Mapping for pre-European Vegetation Communities
Client: South Australian Murray-Darling Basin NRM Board
The interactive Plan to Plant vegetation map provides details of vegetation communities that were indigenous to the lower SA Murray-Darling Basin prior to European settlement.
Produced for the South Australian Murray-Darling Basin NRM Board, the web mapping application provides detailed mapping and descriptions of each plant community and links to a species list to encourage revegetation of these local species.
The Plan to Plant project was completed in two stages. The initial stage took in the lower River to Ranges region (bordered by Mannum, Mount Barker, Goolwa and Tailem Bend), while the second stage encompassed the Coorong and Mallee region (south of Billiat Conservation Park).
We created this web map using Google Fusion Tables and the Google Maps API. Fusion Tables allowed the large, detailed vegetation map layer to be easily integrated with Google Maps.
